Description

Boxwood; without mounts; ivory mouthpiece; bulbous head. Flageolets were uncommon in late eighteenth-century England, and this simple keyless example of a French flageolet dates from the final quarter of the century. The block is slanted to prevent condensation entering the windway. Its maker, Robert Cotton, also made recorders.
