Photographs

The Royal College of Music has a significant collection of nearly 20,000 photographs depicting musicians, instruments, and music in performance.

The collection of photographs is currently being catalogued and digitised – more items are added to the online catalogue on a monthly basis.

Notable items include Victorian-era cartes-de-visite, and personal photographs from the collections of Herbert Howells, Ivor Newton, and Mary Garden, among many other eminent musicians.
